- The U.S. Department of Agriculture issued a suspension notice Wednesday after a Foster Farms chicken plant in Livingston, Calif., was to have a cockroach problem.
- The plant still faces an investigation related to a salmonella outbreak last year that affected at least 400 people.
- Foster Farms issued a statement, saying that "enhanced sanitizing" would take place while the plant is closed.
Following last year's salmonella issues, Foster Farms now has a growing PR problem on its hands in addition to its food safety issues. Facilities can be cleaned up, and processes can be corrected, but reassuring consumers that its products are OK will require a Herculean plan—and soon.
