Mondelēz International is launching a gluten-free version of its popular Ritz cracker as the snacking giant positions more of its portfolio to a variety of dietary and lifestyle needs.
Ritz Gluten Free Crackers will be available starting this month at Walmart and Albertsons before expanding to retailers nationwide in February, Mondelēz said. The 8-ounce package will sell for a suggested retail price of $4.49.
"Our fans have been asking for a gluten free version for years," Olympia Portale, senior director for core crackers and head of savory portfolio strategy at Mondelēz, said in a statement. "RITZ Gluten Free Original crackers deliver the same great taste consumers love in our RITZ Original crackers and contain no artificial colors or flavors.”
The new Ritz cracker adds to other gluten-free versions of some of Mondelēz's popular brands, including Oreo and Chips Ahoy!, giving the snack giant a bigger presence in the growing segment.
The gluten-free market is forecast to reach $14 billion by 2032, more than double the 2022 market value, amid increasing diagnoses of celiac disease and rising mainstream adoption by consumers.
It’s a big reason why food companies are bringing gluten-free versions of iconic brands to market. These options can tap into a consumer base that might have otherwise avoided the products.
The Campbell’s Company partnered in June with chickpea pasta maker Banza on a gluten-free version of its iconic condensed chicken noodle soup, while Kraft Mac & Cheese, Cheez-Its, Cheerios and Quaker oatmeal also have previously launched their own gluten-free offerings.
Approximately 30% of the U.S. population actively seeks gluten-free options, and the U.S. market is projected to grow at a 9.8% compound annual growth rate from 2026 to 2033, according to Campbell’s.
