Dive Brief:
- Mondelez International has hired Brian Gladden, a veteran of GE and Dell, as chief financial officer.
- Gladden will replace David Brearton, who will take the helm of Jacobs Douwe Egberts, Mondelez's new joint venture in the coffee industry.
- The moves come amid a wider reshuffling at the maker of Oreos, Trident, Ritz, and other brands. Last month the company hired a new chief marketing officer.
Dive Insight:
Nowadays, the sort of all-purpose CFO is nearly nonexistent. CFOs tend to have specialties. There are M&A CFOs and exit-bankruptcy CFOs and sell-noncore-assets CFOs and really-more-like-a-COO CFOs.
Gladden is best known for guiding Dell through a leveraged buyout. We're not saying that means Mondelez is planning a LBO of some kind for one or more of its units. But we're not saying it doesn't mean that either.
