Timonium, Md. November 19, 2015 – Michele’s Granola, a small-batch, handmade granola company based in Baltimore, has added a muesli variety to its line of best-selling cereals. Michele’s Toasted Muesli is a lightly toasted combination of organic, whole grain oats, seeds, nuts, raisins and apricots, lightly sweetened with pure maple syrup from, S&S Maple Camp also based in Maryland.
“For years, we’ve been baking muesli for our farmers’ market customers who were seeking a small batch cereal with all the healthful ingredients in our granola but without refined sugar or added oil. We’ve built a loyal, health-conscious following and realize there is a growing market for this product,” said Michele Tsucalas, founder of Michele’s Granola. “We are also excited to bring another local ingredient, Maryland maple syrup, into our kitchen.”
Inspired by traditional muesli, which is typically raw and must be soaked overnight before eating, Michele toasts her muesli for a more flavorful cereal that can be conveniently enjoyed without any preparation. Toasted Muesli is perfect in a bowl with milk and is also great in a parfait or as salad topping for some added crunch.
Muesli is a Swiss breakfast and brunch dish created by a physician for his patients to incorporate more fruits and vegetables in their diet. It also is traditionally enjoyed as an evening snack. Muesli became popular in the U.S. during the 1960’s as attention turned to healthy eating.
As with all Michele’s Granola varieties, the cereal is made by hand in small batches, with organic, all-natural and GMO-free ingredients. Michele’s Toasted Muesli is also wheat- and dairy-free as well as certified vegan.
Michele’s Toasted Muesli will be available in 16-ounce bags with a suggested retail price of $6.99.
