- Fluff was invented in Somerville, Mass. in 1917. Some 11,000 people attended the eight annual "What the Fluff?" festival there last weekend,
- Fluff is manufactured by privately held Durkee-Mower Inc., the company founded by two men who bought the recipe back in 1920. Last year the company sold some 8 million pounds of Fluff.
Dive Insight:
We were raised in New England. So you'll forgive us if we get all misty-eyed and nostalgic about Fluff. But trust us -- this is the best stuff in the world when you're seven-years old. Here's what we believed when we were kids. We sort of believe it still. When you die you will go to heaven. And in heaven you will float around forever on a cloud. And the cloud will be made of Fluff.
