Dive Brief:
- ADM announced it will move its headquarters to Chicago, ending a months-long contest between the Windy City and rival St. Louis for the agricultural giant's heart.
- The company, which had earlier announced plans to move executive offices out of Decatur., Ill., chose Chicago even though politicians rejected requests for tax incentives.
- Only about 50 to 75 employees will be located at the new headquarters.
Dive Insight:
Most everyone predicted that Chicago would win this fight. We, however, had put our money on St. Louis. So there's a little bit of ADM-processed egg on our face today. But we're not giving up on an ADM-St. Louis marriage just yet. ADM has not yet chosen the location of its much-discussed technology center. That facility would fit nicely with the grain and agricultural research centers in St. Louis.
