Sazerac has acquired small batch spirits company Western Son Vodka and Distillery for an undisclosed amount.
Texas-based Western Son produces a range of flavored vodkas in addition to distilling a gin. The deal builds on Sazerac’s vodka offerings following the purchase of Svedka Vodka from Constellation Brands last year.
“The company has created a strong brand, and it provides us an opportunity to continue to augment our portfolio, while also adding additional production capacity and capabilities to our network,” Sazerac CEO Jake Wenz said in a press release.
The flavored spirits market is expected to grow 17.89% from 2025 to 2035, according to data from Market Research Future, which could make the Western Son brand attractive to Sazerac.
Though Sazerac is headquartered in both Louisville, Kentucky, and New Orleans, the company has turned to Texas for its recent acquisitions.
In addition to Western Son, Sazerac recently partnered with Andrews Distributing for three ready-to-drink brands in Texas, including Nuestro, Vamos and Brightway, according to a report from Brewbound.
Last year, Sazerac bought Texas-based BuzzBallz, furthering its focus on RTD offerings.
Sazerac wasn’t the only company interested in buying Western Son. In 2023, Splash Beverage reportedly was in talks to buy Western Son’s owner JEM Beverage Management Company. The deal ultimately fell through.
