- The Israel-based company Salt of the Earth announced Wednesday that it is launching a multicolored, low-sodium sea salt called WonderSalt.
- The product will be aimed at children under the premise that the colors will help them, as well as parents, monitor how much salt they are using.
- Enriched using extracts from vegetables and fruits, the product contains 50% as much sodium as other salts, Salt of the Earth claims.

Low-sodium salt alternatives are in demand this year, with companies such as Salt of the Earth, A&B Ingredients and Nu-Tek Salt all working on solutions. This new color option offers a different take on the problem where children are concerned, though, potentially marketing a product that is both attractive to youngsters while catering to parental nutrition priorities.
