Nestlé named Alfonso Gonzalez Loeschen CEO of Nespresso, filling a gap left when Philipp Navratil was abruptly tapped to oversee the entirety of the Switzerland-based food and beverage giant.
Gonzalez Loeschen, who will assume his new role on Nov. 1, has led Nespresso's North American business since January 2020.
Navratil said in a statement that Gonzalez Losechen has “extensive expertise and deep understanding of the portioned coffee category," adding that his "results-focused approach and talent to inspire teams, will enable him to drive performance and execution."
Earlier this month, Nestlé dismissed CEO Laurent Freixe after a year in the top role, citing an undisclosed romantic relationship with a direct subordinate. Navratil, then head of Nespresso, was picked as his replacement.
Gonzalez Loeschen began his career at Nestlé in Mexico as an assistant marketing manager in 1992. Since then, he has held various leadership positions across geographies and business operations, including Mexico, Puerto Rico and the U.S.
Nespresso is one of Nestlé’s largest divisions. The coffee maker posted nearly $4 billion in sales during the first half of 2025, an increase of 5.8% from the same period last year. The North American market was a bright spot, posting “strong double-digit” sales growth, Nestlé noted.
