Dive Brief:
- Diageo, maker of Bulleit bourbon, plans to invest some $2 million to renovate an old administrative building and create a new visitors center.
- Work on the center will begin immediately and is expected to be completed prior to the Kentucky Derby in May.
- The site has not functioned as a distillery since 1992.
Dive Insight:
We've written previously about the confusion we feel over the bourbon tourism craze. People apparently really like looking at old distilleries. We don't get it. And we expect that if we were to visit one of those places, "we would never fit in."
On the other hand, if anyone wants to organize a trip to the Kit Kat store in Japan, we're there!
