Dive Brief:
- Campbell’s has hired former Kellanova leader Mohit Anand to lead the Goldfish maker’s snacks division.
- Anand will step into the role on Feb. 23 and succeeds Elizabeth Duggan, who is leaving the company. Duggan was promoted to the role last May after initially joining Campbell’s in 2019 as chief transformation officer.
- As president of the division, Anand is charged with returning Campbell's snack division to profitable growth. Anand previously ran Kellogg's snack division in Asia, the Middle East and Africa before the business was spun out and acquired by Mars.
Dive Insight:
Like other food giants, Campbell’s is struggling with lower snack consumption. CEO Mick Beekhuizen said in December that "consumers continue to be increasingly intentional with their purchases."
In its most recent earnings report, net sales of Campbell’s snack business fell 2% year over year. Campbell's snack portfolio includes Goldfish crackers, Pepperidge Farm cookies, Snyder's of Hanover pretzels, plus Kettle Brand potato chips and Late July tortilla chips.
“With some of the best brands in the business, Campbell’s has the right to win in snacking,” Campbell’s President and CEO Mick Beekhuizen said in a statement. “Adding a leader like Mohit to our talented team will help drive change and deliver the growth we know our Snacks portfolio can achieve.”
Anand was most recently senior vice president and general manager of Mars Snacking's Accelerator division, which grew to include brands like RXBar and Nutrigrain bar with the acquisition of Kellanova. Prior to that, he led Kellanova's North American frozen food division and led Unilever's water and beverages business.
Campbell's isn't the only one to swipe a Kellanova executive as the company continues its integration with Mars. Kraft Heinz announced this week it would replace its North American president with Kellanova's Nicolas Amaya.
