Berry flavors are in at PinkBerry and Baskin-Robbins, and black is in style for Budweiser for the beginning of 2013. All three of these brands launched new products in the last week, and either are currently on sale or will be soon.
Budweiser kept its latest look simple, while The Greek Gods' new bottles of low fat cultured milk keep the spirit of the ancient Greeks alive by putting their gods face to face with the tastes of honey and strawberry:
1. BUDWEISER BLACK CROWN
Company: Anheuser-Busch
Budweiser announced on Tuesday that Black Crown, the winning entry in its 12-brewmaster "Project 12" competition will go on sale beginning Jan. 21. The beer, which features "two-row caramel malt and four types of domestic hops," gets finished on a bed of Beechwood chips for what the beer-maker calls "a smooth, balanced taste." Expect to see it show up during a 30-second Super Bowl XLVII ad on Sunday, Feb. 3.
2. GRAPEFRUIT FROZEN YOGURT
Company: PinkBerry
PinkBerry kicked 2013 by rolling out a little more pink at its frozen yogurt dispensaries on Jan. 4. Grapefruit PinkBerry boasts a little bit of tang and "hand-cut" grapefruit pieces. It even comes with the The National Yogurt Association's seal of approval.
3. LEAN CUISINE'S PINEAPPLE AND EDAMAME SALAD ADDITIONS
Company: Nestle USA
Nestle's Lean Cuisine brand went after the salad topper crowd with its latest frozen food section offerings. The new Lean Cuisine Salad Additions come in Asian-Style, Southwest-Style and Bisto chicken varieties, as well as a cranberry and chicken combo meant to thaw out and accompany a diner's own lettuce.
4. BERRY PASSION FROZEN YOGURT
Company: Baskin-Robbins
Baskin-Robbins broke out a yogurt flavor for the new year as well, naming Berry Passion Frozen Yogurt as its January flavor of the month. The offering runs a raspberry ribbon through its passion fruit base. BR is hoping to entice the healthy-minded with a 210-calorie-per-4-oz.-scoop label.
5. HONEY STRAWBERRY KEFIR LOW FAT CULTURED MILK
Company: The Hain Celestial Group, Inc.
The Hain Celestial Group announced Tuesday that it would add Kefir low fat cultured milk to its Greek Gods brand lineup. Plain, Honey, Honey Vanilla and Honey Strawberry flavors of the new milk are meant to resemble Greek-style yogurt tastes.
