VARBERG, SWEDEN — October 13, 2026 — Yangi is bringing a new foodservice application range to PACK EXPO International in Chicago, giving brands and packaging producers a tangible view of what can be achieved with Cellera® — Yangi’s industrial dry-forming technology for producing dry-molded fiber packaging.
The range spans hot and cold beverage lids, plates, takeaway trays, protein and ready-meal trays, and a new deep-formed takeaway bowl, addressing a broad spectrum of foodservice formats and performance requirements — from hot and cold use to moisture, water and grease resistance.
At approximately 50 mm deep, Yangi’s new oval takeaway bowl demonstrates how Cellera can support deeper, more distinctive foodservice geometries, while the coffee lid requires a precise undercut feature to achieve a secure fit and leak resistance. Together, they show how design freedom can work alongside the functional details consumers notice — from fit and convenience to barrier performance and a differentiated look and feel.
For brands, the opportunity is to address very different market needs without compromising the consumer experience. Across high-volume QSR, ready meals and protein applications, Cellera supports packaging that can combine functional performance, distinctive design and lower-impact material choices with the scale and cost requirements needed for broader market adoption.
That relevance has already been tested beyond the development environment. Cellera-produced takeaway trays have been used in live foodservice through Yangi’s collaboration with Flavor Boss, providing real-world feedback on handling, performance and consumer use.
“For brands, packaging has to do more than contain the product,” said Carlo Semeraro, Head of Commercial Partnerships at Yangi. “It has to perform, feel intuitive for the consumer, and reinforce the brand experience. This range shows that functional precision and design freedom do not have to be competing priorities.”
Developed and optimized for Cellera, the applications provide brands and their packaging partners with developed starting points that can be adapted to specific design, performance, and market requirements.
DESIGNED TO PERFORM. BUILT TO SCALE.
The applications are built around a commercially available industrial platform designed to move from product development into full-scale production. Cellera forms fiber without a water-based forming step and delivers production cycles as fast as 4 seconds. Powered by Yangi’s patented FiberIQ® fiber-formation system, it precisely controls fiber distribution to support consistent quality, structural performance, and efficient material use.
For brands working toward packaging and sustainability commitments, that production route can reduce process water and energy demand compared with conventional wet molding while supporting fiber-based packaging designed to fit existing paper and fiber recycling streams.
With the first serial Cellera platform already commissioned at a European converter, the technology has moved beyond development scale, giving brands and packaging partners confidence that applications can be engineered for industrial production.
“Brands are under pressure to deliver packaging that performs for the consumer, supports environmental commitments and still works commercially at scale,” said Anna Altner, Founder at Yangi. “Cellera gives brands and their packaging partners greater freedom to develop distinctive dry-molded fiber formats while addressing the performance, scale and resource-efficiency requirements behind those commitments.”
Visitors to PACK EXPO International, October 18–21 in Chicago, can see the full application range at Yangi Booth S-3422 in the South Building and meet with the Yangi team to explore how dry-molded fiber packaging could support their own product, performance, and brand ambitions.
Yangi helps the packaging industry create more value with fewer resources, enabling high-quality, fiber-based packaging at competitive economics. Yangi is the technology provider of Cellera®, a serial dry-forming platform that produces fiber-based packaging with near-zero process water, powered by FiberIQ®, Yangi's patented fiber-formation system, enabling precise material control and consistent, cost-competitive quality at industrial scale. Headquartered in Sweden and built on more than a decade of research and engineering, Yangi works directly with packaging producers, converters, and brands, supplying the machines, materials, service, and support needed to bring dry-formed packaging into high-volume production. The result is renewable, recyclable packaging: a sustainable alternative to both conventional wet-molding and single-use plastics. To learn more, please visit www.yangi.se.
