Dive Brief:

• A fire swept through a barn in Pennsylvania on Tuesday, killing some 37,000 chickens. No people were injured. 
• The birds were owned by Bell & Evans, a poultry company based in Fredericksburg, PA.
• The loss was estimated at $200,000, including the birds. 

Dive Insight:

Fire officials traced the blaze to an electrical panel and ruled that the fire was accidental. Those things happen, we suppose, and can be chalked up to bad luck. A second building nearby, also filled with living creatures, escaped the blaze. That, we suppose, can be chalked up to good luck.
