- Dr Pepper Snapple Group Inc. reported net income of $188 million in its most-recent quarter, down from the $207 million seen a year earlier. Still, the numbers were better than what analysts forecasted.
- The Plano, TX-based company said sales volumes were flat in an environment it called "extremely challenged."
- The news comes just days after rival Coca-Cola announced an expansion of its cost-cutting plans after earnings fell short of expectations.
Dr Pepper Snapple has been quite open about how it plans to find growth in what is a tough and shrinking market for soft drinks - by expanding distribution and availability of its key brands. It's too early to tell if this plan will work.
