Dive Brief:
- Cargill announced Monday that it is partnering with Teys Australia to distribute the company's grass and grain-fed beef in the U.S.
- Teys is already a leading exporter of Australian beef to the U.S., but the deal will push its products through Cargill's nine U.S. distribution centers.
- The Teys family and Cargill Inc. have a 50/50 stake in Teys Australia.
Dive Insight:
Australia is currently the second-largest exporter of beef and veal to the U.S., and was the largest as recently as a year ago. With this increase in distribution for Teys, Cargill is clearly banking on the existing success the company, and Aussie beef, already have in U.S. markets.
