An AriZona Beverages subsidiary has bought a beverage packing facility in Anaheim, California, in a move to re-establish production at a shuttered facility.
AriZona subsidiary Beverage Packers West bought the facility, plus equipment from Manna Beverages, for an undisclosed amount. The company said in a statement to Food Dive it is working closely with the city of Anaheim and California’s office of Business and Economic Development to evaluate next steps for the facility.
The Anaheim facility has the capacity to fill 1,150 bottles per minute, according to Harry Davis & Company, which brokered the deal. It additionally has the capacity for 10.9 million cases.
Last month, beverage manufacturer Manna Beverages shuttered its operations in Sacramento and Anaheim and laid off staff at the locations. It later sold its Sacramento location to Redwood Beverage Group.
AriZona’s purchase of the site creates an opportunity to bring back hundreds of jobs to the area, Harry Davis & Company said in its press release.
“Manna’s exit opened a meaningful market opportunity, and the facility’s fully integrated West Coast manufacturing and distribution platform drew immediate interest,” said Lenny Davis, CEO of Harry Davis & Company. “Securing a transaction with an industry stalwart like AriZona Beverages USA underscores the strength of the asset and the effectiveness of our process.”
AriZona Beverages, known for its namesake iced tea brand, additionally sells drink mixes, cold brew coffee, energy drinks and juice cocktails. It also produces snacks such as chips and salsa packages and fruit snacks.
