Dive Brief:

• Anheuser Busch InBev, owner of the Budweiser brand, has purchased a brewery called Samson in the Czech city of Ceske Budejovice, also known as Budweis.
• The purchase is aimed at helping AB win a years-long battle with another brewer in that city over the use of the trademark "Budweiser." 
• AB, based in Belgium, already owns the parent company of Samson. 

Dive Insight:

It's uncertain if AB's move will actually help it win any of the 50 or so trademark disputes it has with Budejovicky Budvar, which is also based in Budweis​.

But given the sort of advertising that AB does for Budweiser here in the States, perhaps the people of the Czech Republic should expect a series of patriotic commercials featuring their red, white and blue flag, eagle, models in bikinis, and motorcycles to air in the future.
