Dive Brief:
- Dana Anderson has been promoted to chief marketing officer of snack-food giant Mondelez International.
- Anderson, 60, joined Kraft Foods in 2009, prior to the split that created Mondelez. Her most recent role at the maker of Oreo, Trident, Triscuit, and dozens of other snack and gum brands, was senior-VP marketing strategy and communications.
- Anderson's promotion comes a little more than a month after Mondelez announced a reorganization of its marketing department and said its top marketing executive, Mary Beth West, would leave the company.
Dive Insight:
Anderson is in an enviable position. Mondelez is one of the food industry's biggest and most innovative marketers. The company spent $181.6 million on both digital and traditional ads last year. And the marketing world is still talking about the Oreo tweet during the Super Bowl blackout that set a new standard for brands on social media.
But Anderson also faces some considerable challenges — including a serious decline in gum sales across the nation.
