January 1, 2022, is the mandatory compliance date with the National Bioengineered Food Disclosure Standard. To comply, manufacturers must prove their ingredients and finished products do not contain GMOs or must label them as bioengineered. In this informative webinar titled “Top 3 Reasons You Are Not Prepared for BE Compliance,” Nate Ensrud, general manager of FoodChain ID’s technical services division, will share insights he has gleaned from FoodChain ID clients who thought they were prepared to comply with the law, only to discover they had more questions than answers.
The webinar will cover:
- How issues with documentation collection are complicating compliance
- Complicating effects of looming deadlines
- Why the documentation you receive may not be compliance
- When to test to ensure compliance
- The real risks of non-compliance
In 2016, Congress amended the Agricultural Marketing Act of 1946 with the National Bioengineered Food Disclosure Law. It directed the USDA to establish a standard requiring food manufacturers, importers, and individual retailers to ensure bioengineered foods are appropriately disclosed. Although there are less than 6 months left to comply FoodChain ID has the systems, resources, and expertise to assist companies with strategies and tactical plans to comply with the NBFDS.
