Mérieux NutriSciences North America is pleased to announce the addition of High-Pressure Processing (HPP) to a broad range of Process Validation capabilities. A leader in the Food Testing industry, Mérieux NutriSciences has been validating thermal and non-thermal processes in production plants for more than 20 years. Collaborating with Hiperbaric, the worldwide leader and manufacturer of HPP equipment, Mérieux NutriSciences is able to expand these services to HPP with alignment to manufacturing trends toward novel processing technologies and consumer preferences for fresher, minimally processed and preservative-free food.
HPP is a non-thermal processing technique, which applies extremely high pressure to inactivate microorganisms. Products that cannot be thermally processed are now treated by HPP to achieve the quality and safety objectives while retaining the freshness and organoleptic properties. This technology is becoming widely used as an alternative to traditional heat pasteurization to ensure food safety by inactivation foodborne pathogens such as Escherichia coli, Listeria, Salmonella, Vibrio, Norovirus. HPP is applied in the final package, which eliminates the risk of post-process contamination. With its team of food safety and quality experts, Mérieux NutriSciences is helping food manufacturers validate the efficacy of HPP to meet regulatory requirements and validating shelf life extension, clean label and safety claims in treated products.
