Job Description

We’re looking for an experienced food quality scientist who enjoys their time in a lab or food plant just as much as building relationships with customers and other key stakeholders. Our new quality manager will be able to contribute to a growing GMP program and will love solving co-packing puzzles with Relay’s safety and our customers’ needs in mind. The ideal candidate has confidence and can present themselves professionally in an accessible way. A blend of technical and interpersonal skills is a must to help Relay achieve its “double bottom line:” sustaining revenue as well as creating jobs for people with disabilities and other barriers to employment.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Engineering or related technical field isrequired; an advanced degree is desirable

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a technical area such as R&D, product development, laboratory management, quality management systems, or food process engineering

  • Experience effectively leading a team and accomplishing goals through others; a minimum 1 year experience directly managing others

  • Basic understanding of regulatory and food law, including AAFCO Guidelines

  • Key functional skills, including:

    • HACCP and SQF2 edition 8 management

    • FSSC22000 scheme and quality management systems

    • Project & Change Management Processes

    • Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

    • Integrated Sanitation and Pest Control Management

    • GMP and Personnel Hygiene Management

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable automobile, safe driving record and insurance coverage acceptable to Relay Resources insurance carrier.

  • Ability to pass drug screening and criminal history background check and/or fingerprinting as appropriate at any time during employment.
