Job Description

Working with Richardson opens the door to a world of possibility. We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Application Specialist - Bakery within our Product Innovation department based in Oakville, ON.  As a Senior Application Specialist, you will support the commercialization of new products, collaborate with members of the Richardson product innovation team and provide technical assistance to both internal and external customers.  In this role, you will be required to travel in order to provide hands on product training in both a one-on-one and seminar setting.

  • Build trusted relationships with customers and support the sales team

  • Recommend solutions in the commercialization of new ingredients

  • Manage formula development and demonstrate product functionality in a variety of finished products

  • Conduct sensory studies, test protocols, troubleshoot issues and respond to customer concerns

  • Manage bakery/culinary facilities and the customer experience

  • Collaborate with customers, suppliers, academics and other organizations to facilitate knowledge transfer to Richardson staff and mentor and develop junior application specialists

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in industrial bakery production with emphasis on new product development and continuous improvement

  • Bachelor of Science in Food Science or a related discipline is preferred; equivalent related work experience will be considered

  • Excellent understanding of bakery production and processes and an ability to translate lab concepts into finished products; technical competence in the art and science of baking in terms of ingredient functionality

  • Awareness of government regulations related to the use of ingredients in baked good; Knowledge of GMP’s and HACCP

  • Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to train in one-on-one and large group settings

  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, with the ability to travel to the US and UK
