- In Washington State, the harvest has already begun. Growers estimate the crop will reach 140 million 40-pound boxes of apples -- a full 8% higher than the previous record set in 2012.
- In Michigan, the harvest of the most popular varieties will begin in early September. Estimates in that state are that the 2014 harvest may match the record crop of 2013, nearly 30 million bushels.
