Dive Brief:
- Keurig Green Mountain, Inc. and Reily Foods Company have entered into a multi-year manufacturing and distribution partnership to create K-Cup pods for three of Reily Foods' brands: New England brand coffee, New Orleans Famous French Market Since 1890 brand coffee, and Luzianne brand iced tea pods.
- The three brands will be produced and distributed for use in Keurig hot brewing systems in the U.S. and Canada.
- The new, licensed K-Cup pods from Reily Foods' brands should be launched in fall 2015.
Dive Insight:
Other recent partnerships for Keurig and its single-serving pod technology have been for the company's upcoming Keurig Kold machine, due out this fall. But this latest partnership with Reily signals that Keurig is by no means abandoning its hot drinks initiatives, particularly coffee — and why would it when the company corners about one-third of retail sales for the U.S. coffee market?
