Dive Brief:
- ITunes Radio, which launched alongside iTunes 11.1 and iOS 7 this week, is Apple's long-awaited response to streaming-music services such as Pandora and Songza.
- Pepsi is one of many brands to sign sponsorship and advertising deals. But Pepsi is the only brand to get its own stations for the ITunes Radio launch.
- Pepsi gets four stations in the deal -- pop, country, Latin and electronic dance music (EDM),
- Other Pepsi brands such as Frito-Lay and Mountain Dew are expected to get their own branded stations as part of the deal.
Dive Insight:
This is an interesting deal for Pepsi. And certainly Apple is picking up some substantial cash in this arrangement. Still, we're a little dismayed to see Pepsi and ITunes together again. Are we the only ones to remember that this relationship failed once before?
