- Jelly Belly Candy Company has named a new president and CEO, Lisa Rowland Brasher, the latest descendant of the its founder to take the reins of the company.
- Brasher, who has been vice chair of the board and formerly vice president of administration at Fairfield, CA's Jelly Belly headquarters, is a fifth generation of the family, and she will report to her father, Herman Rowland Sr., the chairman of the board.
- Brasher is taking the place of president and COO Robert Simpson, who has been with the company for 15 years and who will retire at the end of the month.

Rowland feels confident that his daughter will continue the family tradition that has made Jelly Belly a successful candy company over its nearly 150-year history. He said in a press release, "This company was founded on the traditions of family and quality candy. We intend to remain a family company, and I’m proud that the fifth and sixth generations are stepping up to drive the business forward. I have great confidence that this appointment will position the company for successive generations to carry on the 146-year tradition of candy manufacturing."
