Dive Brief:
- Archer Daniels Midland Co. will open a 15,700-square-foot flavor creation, application, and customer service facility in Cranbury, NJ, next month.
- The facility "will include lab, office and meeting space — including dedicated lab space for mint and oral care products — and will house a staff of flavorists and applications technologists," according to a news release.
- "Our customers expect a lot from working with the premier flavor company in the world, and this facility will help us continue to meet — and exceed — their needs," Ken Campbell, president of ADM’s WILD Flavors business, said in a statement. "This new facility will be easy to reach for major customers, it will feature state-of-the-art equipment and resources."
Dive Insight:
ADM joins a host of other companies that are all looking to innovation via new or upgraded R&D facilities to formulate or reformulate products and generate sales and interest among consumers. In July, Diamond Foods opened up an innovation center in Salem, OR, followed by the debut of Nestle's new global frozen foods R&D center in Solon, OH.
ADM believes this new center could have an impact on its 2014 acquisition, WILD Flavors.
"This facility will help us continue to grow WILD Flavor’s sales and ensure that we remain the first and best choice among global flavor companies," Campbell said.
Campbell was named president of WILD Flavors last month.
