Dive Brief:
- Costco Canada cannot import fish into the country due to a license suspension, effective Feb. 26, says the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), reports Food Safety News. There is no recall involved.
- As for the reason for the regulatory move against Costco Canada, the CFIA said it, "determined that adequate controls for food safety were not being reliably implemented by the company on a consistent basis … ."
- The only fish products that Costco Canada's license suspension affects are a limited supply of imported canned tuna products.

According to Food Safety News, "Costco Canada attributed its license suspension to not following three administrative procedures during the past two years: not properly notifying CFIA about a load of canned tuna being imported and transporting canned tuna directly to the company’s facilities for distribution instead of to a warehouse for CFIA inspection."
