Dive Brief:
- Archer Daniels Midland Co. has opened its new information technology and support center in Erlanger, KY, on the same campus as its WILD Flavors offices.
- ADM CEO Juan Luciano said in a news release that the center would enable the company to expand global IT capabilities and infrastructure to support the company's growth.
- Luciano also said the company would be able to attract new IT talent from Northern Kentucky and the entire greater Cincinnati area, which could create 200 high-paying jobs for the area, including project managers, business analysts, and solution integrators.
Dive Insight:
"To support the development of the center, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) approved tax incentives of up to $5 million through the Kentucky Business Investment program. In order to qualify for the incentives, ADM has committed to recruit heavily in Kentucky for the newly created positions at the center," according to the news release.
ADM will continue to operate its current IT center at the company’s North American headquarters in Decatur, IL, and will continue to tap several other ADM locations throughout North and South America, Europe, and Asia for IT services as well.
R&D and innovation center expansion has been frequent in the food industry, with both Nestle and Diamond Foods announcing the opening of new centers in July and ADM itself recently announcing a new flavor creation, application, and customer service facility in Cranbury, NJ, set to open next month.
