AB-InBev and Teamsters to negotiate new contract
- November will mark the first contract talks between Anheuser-Busch InBev and the Teamsters union since InBev bought Anheuser-Busch five years ago.
- No specific time or place has been disclosed for the talks, which will cover the contract set to expire on Feb. 28 for over 5,000 workers at 12 U.S. breweries.
- The existing contract was reached shortly after the 2008 merger announcement and included a renewal of AB-InBev's commitment to keeping all 12 breweries in business throughout the duration of the contract.
It's not currently clear whether the issue of keeping all of the breweries open during the contract's lifespan will be on the table once again during the coming contract negotiations. AB-InBev holds 47.6% of the market share for beer in the U.S.
